Me and My Politics: The Vote

I think that this #Occupy sign sums up how I feel at the moment about the current state of politics. One man, one law, isn't going to fix the situation. Even if our votes weren't tampered with either before or after the polls close, they change nothing. We can only vote on the laws that are presented to us, we can only vote for the people put before us. The vote in this country has been neutered, reduced solely to a mildly interesting statistic for political scientists.

Want to take back the vote? Abolish the electoral system; take corporations and all large donations out of campaigns; establish a streamlined procedure for referendum, initiation, and recall nation-wide, on every level of government; and enable citizens to propose laws at all levels of government, which all to-be-affected citizens would be allowed (and encouraged) to vote on.

While we're at it, let's can the two-party system and allow candidates for any office to declare non-alignment to all parties.

Let's lock the two-party system in a chest and bury it at sea.
