Bike Dreams

Perhaps you remember from quite a few months ago when I went public with my desire to get this bike, the Bellevue by Trek:

I am so over that bike.

Yes it has some cool things, but it only has 3 gears and is quite heavy.

I now have my sights set on this beauty, the Fantom CX3 by Motobecane:

You might notice that there is no rack or fenders. Have no fears, there are the proper holes to put them on. Which I will. You might notice that the bike is orange. It also comes in Black, Silver, and Lava. But obviously orange is the best. You might notice that it's a 27-speed. You might notice the drop-down handlebars. You might notice those fancy pedals. You might also notice that I love this bike.

In October I think it was I test-rided a tricross bike at one of the local Bike Shoppes in town, and it was one of the smoothest rides I've ever taken. It was a Specialized, and I loved it, but it was way out of my budget. Friend Austen turned me on to this brand, and I will listen to his opinion because he used to race bicycles on a team (legit). Then, a professor friend of mine told me that he had also test-rode the exact same bike I had a few months back, and he snatched it up and loves it to death. It has become his main ride. That, for me, sold it. He also passed on a website where the above bike is not sold for $1695.

Now that the weather is improving in fits and starts, it is almost time to splurge. It is only a shame that my old bike is broken to the point where it will cost too much money to justify fixing it. Oh well. I will just bide my time...

I actually purchased that exact bike last summer. I liked it. The only change that really needed to be made was a new seat. The stock seat is total crap and will destroy you butt.
